Location Tiapleu Agro-Forest
Activity Forest management inventory
Period June 2026
Purpose Sustainable management planning

As part of its commitments to the sustainable management of forest resources, EWOOD PGM is continuing its field activities alongside its technical partner AETS Afrique, through forest management inventories.

This fundamental stage is an essential prerequisite for preparing and carrying out any sustainable forest management programme. It provides precise knowledge of the state of the forest resource and makes it possible to define the technical direction needed for its responsible management.

Measuring and describing the stands

The teams deployed in the field carry out detailed surveys to measure and describe the forest stands. This work builds a fine-grained map of the resource, tree by tree and plot by plot.

What the inventory measures

Five parameters recorded to describe the actual state of the forest.

Tree species

Identifying the species present on each plot.

Tree diameter

Measuring stem diameters with a tape measure.

Stand density

Assessing the density of the forest cover.

Natural regeneration

Analysing regeneration in the understorey.

Health condition

Assessing the health of the vegetation.

A scientific basis

This data provides an essential scientific basis for managing the resource rationally, preserving biodiversity and securing the renewal of forest ecosystems. It also supports the planning of restoration activities and the development of projects with high environmental value, in particular within initiatives related to carbon and climate resilience.

A combined expertise

Drawing on the combined expertise of EWOOD PGM and AETS Afrique, these field operations are carried out using rigorous methods, in line with national requirements and international standards for sustainable forest management.

Beyond data collection, this work reflects both partners’ determination to promote an approach grounded in science, innovation and a thorough understanding of ecosystems, in order to reconcile the preservation of natural resources, economic development and lasting benefits for local communities.

Sustainable management begins with precise knowledge of the forest.

A lasting commitment

Through these inventories, EWOOD PGM restates its commitment to contributing actively to the restoration of forest landscapes, to the sustainable use of natural resources and to building a responsible carbon economy, in the service of present and future generations.

Because sustainable management begins with precise knowledge of the forest, EWOOD PGM and AETS Afrique place scientific data at the heart of their work, to preserve and sustainably develop the forest ecosystems of Côte d’Ivoire.
