To reintroduce native species and restore entire ecosystems across thousands of hectares of degraded land in the heart of Côte d’Ivoire’s high-biodiversity forest zone.
The planting plan is built on indigenous species, to support genuine ecosystem reconstruction rather than monoculture plantations. Each species is selected on growth rates and ecological function in the region.
Multi-layer canopy planting, pioneer, sub-canopy and emergent species, recreates the vertical structure of tropical forest. This drives soil formation, moisture retention and the light regimes that support understorey diversity.
Four designed wildlife corridors link the Tiapleu platform to existing forest fragments, enabling large mammal movement across a landscape otherwise fragmented by agriculture. Connectivity is fundamental to long-term genetic diversity.
EWOOD PGM treats biodiversity not as a co-benefit but as the foundation of the entire reforestation model. Every protocol, from seed collection to corridor design, is built to maximise ecological function alongside carbon sequestration.
The Climate, Community and Biodiversity (CCB) standard applies to land-use projects whose co-benefits go beyond carbon emission reductions. EWOOD PGM organises its biodiversity monitoring, community engagement and additionality documentation with the requirements of CCB Gold as a target. Assessment against that standard is carried out independently.
