The Tiapleu Project
Located in the Département de Danané, in western Côte d’Ivoire, Tiapleu sits at the heart of the Upper Guinea biodiversity hotspot, one of the most threatened forest ecosystems in Africa and the world.
The project covers 6,000 hectares of degraded forest and agricultural land. The planting plan is based on a multi-species silvicultural approach, guided by EWOOD’s proprietary MRV system and compliant with Verra’s VM0047 methodology.
The plantation area is managed in partnership with 25 local communities under formal Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) agreements. All planting, monitoring and maintenance operations give priority to local employment.
Project Components
Forest Restoration
Planting of 1,000,000 seedlings per year on degraded land, with Upper Guinea native species. Target survival rate 85%.
Agroforestry Systems
Integration of food crops and cacao in buffer zones, generating revenue for communities during the growth of forest trees
Proprietary MRV Monitoring
Individual tree-level tracking via GPS, satellite remote sensing and drones. Real-time dashboard across all 6,000 ha.
Community Impact
25 partner communities under FPIC agreements. Permanent jobs created.
Pipeline VCU
60,000 – 80,000 tCO&sub2;e/year projected. First Verified Carbon Units issuance expected in 2031. Forward contracts available now.
Biodiversity Conservation
15+ native species planted. Ecological corridors maintained. CCB Gold target for biodiversity and community wellbeing co-certification.
Project Milestones
Platform Establishment
EWOOD PGM incorporated. Tiapleu land agreements formalised with community partners and local authorities.
PDD Submission to Verra
Project design document submitted under VM0047. MRV system fully operational across the 6,000 ha.
First Planting Cycle
Nursery now operational. 1,000,000 seedlings grown. Phase 1 of planting has been completed across 6 hectares of priority areas.
Third-party Validation
Independent validation audit by a Verra-accredited DOE. Registration expected on the Verra registry.
First VCU Issuance
Projected first issuance of Verified Carbon Units. Forward contracts available now from our carbon team.
